Thurgood Marshall Academy was founded in 2000 to fill an educational need in Ward 8 of Washington, DC. Our mission is to to prepare students to succeed in college and to actively engage in our democratic society. We provide a rigorous college-preparatory education combined with law-related instruction to teach students the skills lawyers have—the ability to solve complex problems, think critically, and advocate persuasively for themselves and their communities.
