Enrollment FAQs
ATTENTION: The annual enrollment process for school year 2020-21 has been adjusted due to the District-wide public health advisories relating to coronavirus (COVID-19) currently in place. Student registration for school year 2020-21 will be completed online until further notice to minimize in-person contact. Please reach out to a member of our registration team if you need support with the process. Please see the registration guidelines for new and returning families included below.
SY 2020-21 Enrollment Guidance for NEW and RETURNING FAMILIES
STEP 1: Complete the SY 2020-21 Student Enrollment Survey by Friday, May 15, 2020.
STEP 2: Complete Online Registration. Families will receive an email with a link to the online registration platform on June 1, 2020. Families will need to complete the form and upload the documents listed below as part of the online registration process. Thurgood Marshall Academy reserves the right to request physical copies of all documentation submitted electronically at a later date.
- Parent/Guardian ID
- Proof of DC residency documentation (scan and upload or submit a clear, legible photo and upload)
o A pay stub issued within the past 15 days showing only DC tax withholdings, displaying the enrolling parent/guardian name and current address OR
o Unexpired official documentation of financial assistance from the Government of the District of Columbia (i.e., TANF, Medicaid, SCHIP, Housing, etc.) issued within the past 12 months, displaying the enrolling parent/guardian name and current address OR
o District of Columbia Driver’s License and vehicle registration (both documents must be unexpired and names and address must match) OR
o District of Columbia driver’s license or non-driver’s identification card and two consecutive utility bills (electric, gas and water only) issued within the last two months
- Half or full page student birth certificate (new students)
- Proof of legal guardianship (court order), if applicable
STEP 3: Electronically sign OSSE DC Residency Verification Form, My School DC Seat Acceptance Form (new students only) and OSSE Home Language Survey (new students only). NOTE: Enrolling parents/guardians will receive these forms after successfully completing Online Registration.
STEP 4: Submit current immunization record, health and dental forms no later than the first day of school.
STEP 5: NEW STUDENTS ONLY – Submit IEP and/or 504 plan (if applicable), final report card showing promotion (entering 9th grade students) or official end of year transcript (10th and 11th grade students). Report cards and transcripts will be reviewed to determine appropriate grade level and course placement.
