TMA’s Parent Engagement Team has planned a day of service with We Feed Our People (WFOP). Parents, students, and friends of TMA – you’re all invited to join us! We will be meeting at TMA on Monday, January 19th at 9am for a light breakfast before heading to The Big Chair in Anacostia to help set up and prepare to hand out food and clothes to the homeless.
WFOP first launched in 1988; at this time, programs that provided for the homeless, including most shelters, did not provide meals on Sundays and holidays. As a result, holidays such as the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Day were particularly challenging for those most at risk.
WFOP commemorates the works and life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by reaching out to those most vulnerable the homeless, and providing nutritious meals and warm clothing for homeless citizens in the Nation’s Capital as a way to keep the work of a great hero alive.
