Application Process and Admissions Criteria
Thurgood Marshall Academy PCHS participates in the My School DC common application and common lottery. The MSDC application opens in December, with an initial deadline set in early February. Families who apply after the initial deadline are placed on a waiting list. More information about the MSDC application process can be found at www.myschooldc.org.
Thurgood Marshall Academy has set the following criteria for admission:
- Students must be entering either the 9th, 10th, or 11th grade.
- Students must have completed the 8th grade or equivalent to enter the 9th grade or meet all applicable transfer credit requirements to enter the 10th or 11th grade.
- We do not accept applications from students who are 18 or older.
- Students and parents/guardians must live in the District of Columbia and provide specific documents to verify guardianship and residency.
- Students must submit a completed application for admission via MSDC and, if matched, complete the enrollment steps for Thurgood Marshall Academy PCHS (TMA) by the provided deadline.
**Students entering 12th grade are open to apply to Thurgood Marshall Academy PCHS but are typically not admitted. Matched applicants are reviewed on a case-by-case basis if space is available.**

Matched Students and Waitlist Admissions
Congratulations on your admission to Thurgood Marshall Academy Public Charter High School for the 2026-27 school year! We are excited to welcome you to the Warrior Family! A TMA team member will contact you if you are matched through the MSDC Lottery or pulled from the waitlist. Full registration steps will be shared by email. Summer Prep for Incoming 9th and 10th Grade Students
Summer Prep introduces incoming 9th and 10th grade students to Thurgood Marshall Academy and helps them successfully transition to the Warrior community. The program runs during July (dates and times will be shared by email). Students participating in the D.C. Department of Employment Services (DOES) Marion Barry Summer Youth Employment Program can use Summer Prep as their summer job. Students must register with DOES and complete the registration process at TMA (Thurgood Marshall academy).
